STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I am Sulav Shrestha, son of Mrs. Chandika Shrestha and Mr. Ganesh Kumar Shrestha. I was born on 26 October 1998 and my permanent address is Pathakdhara, 01 Khandbari, Sankhuwasabha, Nepal and my passport number is 09865030. This Statement of Purpose consist of my academic qualification, academic background, financial capacity, my aim, future plans, reason for choosing Australia and the most important fact is: the reason for choosing the particular course and how it’s going to uplift my career and future.

My Acadmemics Background

Talking about my education, I have completed my School Leaving Certificate from Surya Boarding School; where I scored 69.38% in the year 2014. After that I moved to Kathmandu for my higher education purpose. As a student, I was always someone with keen interest and curiosity. Consequently, after my SLC education I choose science faculty for my higher secondary level from Capital College and Research Centre (CCRC) with an aggregate score of 72.1% in the year 2016. To meet the English Language requirement, I have taken the IELTS examination on 15th September 2016 with an overall band score of 6.5. Finally after fulfilling all the basic requirements, I now had to choose the best country for my further studies. I was in a dilemma at beginning so I consulted my seniors, teachers, cousins and friends for my higher studies in foreign countries. I also attended several seminars conducted by various educational consultancies. During that time period, I gathered as much information as I could, compared and analysed various aspects like fee structure, learning environment, experience of teachers, and internship and job opportunities after completion of the course. In the end after hours of internet research and consulting with educational agents, I choose Australia as my abroad study destination due to its various plus points which I have discussed below.

Why Australia

As a matter of fact, Australia is the one of the most developed countrries in the world with multicultural background and a literacy rate of 99% which is same as compared to United States and United Kingdom. It holds a reputation of high quality education provider for national as well as international students all around the world with peaceful learning environment and outstanding infrastructural facilities. Australia is currently the third most popular destination for international students in the English-speaking world, behind the United States and the UK. Many international students including me are choosing to study there because of the cultural diversity, friendly natives, and high quality of education. There is no doubt that Australia is the perfect site for Information Technology studies, as the technology field is highly developed and demanding. And such a setting will not only allow me to further improve my skills, but also provide me with a matchless set of experiences. In addition, living expenses and tuition costs are considerably lower in Australia than in the United States and United Kingdom. Also, Australia has been declared as the one of the safest and livable country in the world, so I could not think of second option rather than choosing Australia. Here one can learn and enhance their study with freedom.

Reason for Not Studying In Nepal:

I want to share an unforgettable moment of my life. It was the first day at my high school and I was heading towards the computer lab. When I entered the lab, one of my teachers told me to wait for my turn to use the computer, since there were not enough computers for every student. We were about 15 students waiting for our turn. Finally our turn came and I was so excited but my excitement didn’t last for long. The electric line was cut off and there were no backups. At that very moment I realized the poor condition and the situation of my country. I had a dream in my life which was to become a successful Informational and Technological professional but as I grew up studying in my home country up to high school, I realized that though I am keenly interested in the field of technology, I wouldn’t be able to grasp my aim if I continue my study here in Nepal. Despite, the presence of numerous schools and education sector in Nepal, they hardly match the international standards and are not recognized at meeting benchmarks that are required to gain employment in larger companies. During my high school, I noticed that my curriculum is totally based on theoretical knowledge despite it is a practical subject. I didn’t get proper practical knowledge which I should have gotten according to my course content. Therefore, to give a push to meet my aim, I finally decided to take the biggest decision of my life and that was to continue my further studies in Australia.

Why Study in Melbourne?

With a population of about 4.1 million people, Melbourne is Australia’s 2nd largest city and the capital of Australia’s 2nd smallest state, Victoria. Melbourne’s multiculturalism has contributed to the diverse educational opportunities available within this sophisticated city. World class education with high quality, new lifestyle which is really affordable in comparison of other developed city of Australia. The city is also Australia’s unofficial sporting capital. Melbourne has perfect weather and proximity to some of the world’s most beautiful natural wonders which is some of the reasons why I choose Melbourne. Moreover, I will be surrounded by different facilities provided by Melbourne like super markets, river views and inner city parkland and a very reliable public transportation which attracted me the most. It rates highly in education, entertainment, research and development, tourism and sports; making it the world’s most liveable city for the sixth year in a row in 2016 according to the EIU (Economist Intelligence Unit). Not only that, the course that I was wanting to study exactly matched with the university located in Melbourne which is the major reason for me choosing Melbourne as my abroad study destination.

Why University of Sunshine Coast Programs with ATMC?
